The Hermit Kingdom is supposed to be shut off from the world – but apparently even Pyongyang has been reading Donald Trump’s tweets. A North Korean guide allegedly grilled US reporters about fake news ahead of Mike Pompeo’s visit.

According to Will Ripley, an international correspondent for CNN, a North Korean guide had a bit of fun with the American media ahead of Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s visit to Pyongyang on Friday.

“The pool reporter traveling w/ Secretary Pompeo asked a North Korean guide what Pyongyang expects from the meetings,” Ripley tweeted from Beijing on Thursday. “His reply: ‘We'll have to see, like your President says.’ Then he fired back with a question of his own, asking: ‘In this van, no fake news?’”

Marking his third visit to North Korea, Pompeo said that his aim was to secure Pyongyang’s commitment to denuclearization.

Pompeo reportedly has a second, slightly more bizarre mission during his visit to North Korea: Delivering an Elton John CD to Kim Jong-un – autographed by Trump.
