Cristiano Ronaldo in apparent social media snub to Real Madrid

Cristiano Ronaldo has issued an apparent snub to former club Real Madrid by removing the team from the list of accounts he follows on Instagram.

Ronaldo left the Spanish capital after nine years this summer when he completed a €100 million move to Italian giants Juventus.

There are reports that the Portuguese ace is keen to sell off his property portfolio in Spain, and his severing of ties with the club and country appears to have extended to the social media scene.

Marca picked up on Friday that the famous number 7 had unfollowed the official Real Madrid account on Instagram – although he continues to follow former Real teammates such as Dani Carvajal and Marco Asensio.

He now follows a number of his new Juve teammates, including Paolo Dybala and Juan Cuadrado, as well as new boss Massimiliano Allegri.

Ronaldo joined up with his new teammates for the first time earlier this week after his summer break following his exploits at the World Cup in Russia.

He has spoken of his desire to bring European glory back to the Turin club, which has won the Italian Serie for the past seven seasons, but has not tasted European glory in more than 20 years.

It recently emerged that Ronaldo, 33, will pay a €3.2 million (US$3.7 million) fine for tax fraud after settling a tax evasion case with the Spanish authorities. The amount is likely to be only part of a total €19 million he will repay as part of the case.
