#Romanovs100: Join digital colorization contest judged by renowned artist Marina Amaral

#Romanovs100 has teamed up with Brazilian artist Marina Amaral for a photo colorization contest open to social media users. The competition is part of RT’s history project dedicated to Russia’s last reigning family - the Romanovs.

RT pitched 10 images to Marina out of which, the artist chose 3. Now anyone can choose one or more images, out of these three, to colorize.

Once finished, the photo should be posted on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook using the hashtag #Romanovs100 - allowing Marina to judge and choose a winner in late June.

Whoever wins, will receive a prize - 2 limited edition books: ‘#1917LIVE - The Russian Revolution in tweets’ and ‘The Colour of Time: A New History of the World, 1850-1960’ by Marina Amaral.

Please join and participate! The results will be announced in early July. You can download the photos in maximum quality HERE.

In 2017 RT collaborated with Marina Amaral when the Brazilian artist contributed to #1917LIVE – RT’s interactive history project about the 1917 Revolution. Amaral used her signature technique to colorize rare photos from a century ago.

Her book with Dan Jones “The Colour of Time: A New History of the World, 1850-1960” is set to be released in August 2018. It will feature the most celebrated moments and personalities in modern history - all in color.

#Romanovs100 is a project built on an extensive archive of personal photos that the Romanov family, all being avid photographers, took during their last years of reign over the Russian Empire. It runs across four social media platforms and you can join HERE.
