False alarm: Police confirm no arrests, no ‘armed suspect’ found following major operation in Paris

A major police operation, including evacuations at the Quatre Temps shopping center and adjacent La Defense metro station, has ended. Contrary to witness reports, police found no armed suspect in the area.

In a message posted to Twitter, police asked the public to avoid the area while they conducted a threat assessment operation at the center, which has now concluded with no arrests. An unnamed police source said previously that authorities were working to “remove all doubt” following reports of an armed suspect in the area. 

Eyewitness video from the scene showed police conducting enquiries with the public while certain areas of the shopping center were closed off, as heavily armed police carried out searches on bags and evacuated people from the center and its adjacent train station.

Police confirmed they did not find any armed suspects in the area, despite the deployment of multiple teams of heavily armed officers to the scene.

Rail traffic was reportedly diverted away from La Defense station while the security operation was underway.
