We must out-wiretap the terrorists
All prosecuting authorities and government security services have to be properly equipped to deal with the threat of terrorism, both online and over telephone lines, assures international prosecutor Richard Goldstone.
Stressing his position, the former Chief Prosecutor in the UN's criminal tribunal for the former Yugoslavia said:
“Let me put it this way. International terrorists and international criminals, in drug trafficking or human trafficking, are using modern technologies to help them commit their crimes,” says Goldstone, “and in order to meet that it is absolutely necessary in my view for the authorities to be able to meet that and deal with that and be given similar capabilities.”
He particularly stressed that “it should not interfere with innocent people and there should be a limit and the extent limit to which it interferes into fundamental human rights.”
