CSTO Allies: 30 Years Protecting Collective Security

“We have no designs on any other territories, countries, or interests. Our goal is to provide security and peace here, on our land, in our countries,” says Stanislav Zas, Secretary-General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization. He points out that the CSTO was created to protect its members’ borders from terrorists, drug trafficking, and other threats. The organization's primary means of solving problems is diplomacy and politics. But when force is justified it has 30,000 soldiers available.

Today the CSTO has observer status at the UN General Assembly. It is a powerful position, which opens ways for worldwide diplomacy. Yet, every day CSTO faces problems of vital importance. So, what strategies is it employing?
