Epstein stuck in the slammer, denied bail

Iranian state TV has reported that Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has seized a foreign oil tanker off the Strait of Hormuz for allegedly smuggling oil. There is speculation that the tanker is Emirati, however the UAE has denied the claim. Elsewhere, the temporary fate of billionaire Jeffrey Epstein was decided today when a judge in New York denied his request for bail. He will remain in jail as he awaits trial for sex trafficking charges. Meanwhile, as President Trump plans to deploy 1,000 US troops to unnamed locations in the Middle East, there is speculation that half of them will be stationed at Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia as tensions with Iran continue to mount. And finally, a police commissioner in Detroit was arrested and jailed for disorderly conduct after a city board meeting on the use of facial recognition. Police Commissioner Willie Burton claims the board was trying to silence his objections to the use of facial recognition by police but the chairwoman claimed he was being disruptive. The use of facial recognition has been a hot topic in the city of Detroit after they spent more than one million dollars in software as part of Detroit’s Green Light Project.
