28 MILLION evictions, police accountability, NY elections
Inequality in the US has been out of control for decades at this point, but we’re heading toward an eviction crisis that could see 28 million people made homeless. Lee covers how the government could’ve avoided this crisis and what they did instead. Housing should be a human right and it would improve all levels of society if it were. The fight to demand police accountability continues with the police pushing back as hard as you’d expect for people who are scared of losing the power to murder people without questions being asked. Lee looks at the average police officer’s day and how few of their jobs require guns. Anders Lee looks into recent elections and voter suppression in New York. A cohort of DSA progressives won their elections despite widespread voter suppression of absentee ballots. Just in case you’re wondering, Gov. Andrew Cuomo didn’t help defend the rights of those voters. Naomi Karavani covers the 15-year-old who has been in juvenile detention for the last 2 months for failing to do her homework during the pandemic, and Philadelphia DA Larry Krasner who said he intends to prosecute DHS officers who assault or kidnap protesters in Philadelphia.
