Iceland’s 4-day work week experiment, Brazil’s elections, January 6 rally returns to DC
Lee Camp reports on a recent experiment in Iceland. The Nordic country decided to make a radical change to its national economy by trialing a four-day work week without reducing pay. Mainstream economists would assume that this would lead to decreased productivity and harm the economy. Iceland saw the opposite effect from the study, providing evidence that this fundamental change to an economy can benefit everyone. Camp also reports on the backlash from Ben and Jerry’s decision to boycott Israel, what the Democrats could’ve done to protect abortion over the past 30 years, and more.
Anders Lee reports on Brazilian fascist Jair Bolsonaro’s latest attempt to end the country’s democracy. An anti-democratic rally he organized recently flopped but that doesn’t mean his campaign is dead. The global rich aren’t just going to sit by and watch as the left-wing Lula da Silva returns to power. Jaffer Khan and Naomi Karavani end the show with a debate about the right-wing rally that’s coming to Washington, DC this weekend. The protesters are visiting the Capitol to remind us all of their little insurrection on January 6.
