The Carnival after Grenfell and MEP Clare Daly (E294)
This weekend all eyes will be on Notting Hill. Most will marvel at the joy Britain’s Afro Caribbean community brings to this green and pleasant land. Some will view the Notting Hill Carnival through a more jaundice eye, wondering if racist stereotypes will be confirmed and the level of crime – more than normal in a vast crowd over three days on a bank holiday weekend, will be recorded. Few in either camp will realise that a matter of yards from Ladbroke Grove stands the camouflaged husk of Grenfell Tower which took the lives of scores of people and scarred the lives of thousands a little over two years ago. Pat Mason is deeply involved in both events as a tireless seeker of truth and justice, and a leading councillor in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, so we invited him into the Sputnik studio to give his thoughts.
And the second part of the highly popular interview with legendary Irish politician Clare Daly MEP. She talks about the EU, Brexit, Irish neutrality, and more.
