Texas Democrats block restrictive voting bill & Biden commemorates anniversary of Tulsa massacre
Texas Republicans' push to enact new voting restrictions and were blocked Democrats who walked off the state House floor late Sunday night, leaving majority Republicans without the quorum they needed to approve the bill. President Joe Biden will announce on Tuesday new measures his administration is taking to narrow the racial wealth gap. The announcement will coincide with Biden’s trip to Tulsa, Oklahoma, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Tulsa race massacre, one of the worst episodes of racial violence in US history. The Biden administration is dispatching its top diplomat to Costa Rica on Tuesday to take Central American officials to task on corruption in their countries and to examine how they can more efficiently block migration to the US.
