FC Barcelona offer condolences following terrorist attack

FC Barcelona have offered their condolences to those affected by the terrorist attack at a tourist hotspot in the Catalan city on Thursday.

Thirteen people died and more than 100 were injured when a van plowed into pedestrians in the center of the city. Police have confirmed the incident is a terrorist attack.

“Deeply saddened by the attack on our city. All our thoughts are with the victims, their families and with the people of Barcelona,” the club said in a tweet.

Barca’s fiercest rivals Real Madrid also expressed their sympathies in a statement published on their English language site.

“Real Madrid C. F. would like to express its deepest sorrow regarding the attack which has taken place in the city of Barcelona and the club stands together with the victims, their families and their friends. It also hopes for the quickest possible recovery to all those injured in the incident," the statement read. 

English Premier League club Manchester City also offered their thoughts to those affected.

“All at MCFC are saddened to hear of the attack in the City of Barcelona. Our thoughts are with all affected and the emergency services.”
