‘Another hostage situation’: Sanders supporters meme their disappointment
Hugs and handshakes were shared between Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton in New Hampshire, but the only thing shared on the internet by some Sanders supporters was their disappointment with the endorsement.
“This campaign is not really about Hillary Clinton, or Donald Trump or Bernie Sanders, or any other candidate who sought the presidency,” Sanders told a New Hampshire crowd Tuesday in a speech endorsing Hillary Clinton. “This campaign is about the needs of the American people and addressing the very serious crisis that we face.”

The needs of quite a few former Sanders fans, however, did not quite fall in sync with his speech.
Posting under the hashtag #SandersSellsOut, many drew parallels with a previous uncomfortable endorsement of a presidential candidate, labeling it “another hostage situation.”

Another supporter, perhaps equating the power and success of the Sanders-branded “political revolution” with Meatloaf’s smash hit album “Bat Out of Hell II: Back Into Hell,” rewrote the lyrics of “I’ll Do Anything For Love” for another meme.
Others saw his endorsement on Tuesday, just two weeks shy of the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia as equivalent to the betrayal in a relationship and a bad break up.
Supporters couldn’t help but point out Sanders’ hypocrisy.

Frustrated supporters even showed how peeved they were by taking it out on garden ornaments.

And other items become trash.
Even the Trump team weighed in with a tweet, which was retweeted by the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, showing they are ever keen to secure the votes of Sanders’ supporters.

And as for the Democratic presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton, she got what she wanted.
